Hi Everyone,
It is almost Christmas, and we have been celebrating the season in prek! We will be having our Polar Express day Thursday. Thanks for all of your contributions. I can't wait to have fun in our PJ's and holiday gear. We will be progress monitoring this week, so please try to have your child to school each day. The students last day is Thursday.
On another note, I was given a tablet for our classroom and the kids are loving it! (As am I 😀) Here are some pictures of the kids learning through technology. Have a great holiday!

I am so grateful that everyone is feeling better this week. I have missed your little ones who have been sick. I will be at a conference this week and back in the classroom on Thursday. Remember that this Friday will be Mrs. Casey's last day with us. We will miss her dearly. Next week we will observe Thanksgiving holidays with no class Monday-Friday. Enjoy your holiday!
We have been working on shapes and building with shapes for the past two weeks. Here are some photos of the shapes your kids have created during math. They loved seeing their blocks create a masterpiece!

Hi everyone,
We are having a great year in prek. I can't believe November is already here. Thank you to everyone who participated in Red Ribbon week activities. We have lots of fun activities coming up with the holidays. Remember that there will be no school on November 11th in honor of Veteran's Day. We are also out for a week this year for Thanksgiving. The Christmas play will be December 5th at 1:00 pm. We hope to see you there.
Our new principal, Ms. Libby Little, will be joining us Monday, November 3rd. We are so excited to have her on board. Thanks for all of your hard work this year. I can already see great progress with each of your little ones!

Parents,
Please remember to turn in your child's permission slip for our October field trip. It will be here before you know it. Also, student progress reports were sent home last week. Be sure to check your child's folder. This week we will be reviewing everything we have learned up to this point. Thanks for your help in making this a great year!

We have had a great four weeks in Prek! It is amazing how much these little ones have already learned. We are still talking about school vocabulary (classroom, line up, potty, girl, boy, friends, etc). We are also learning to write our names, read sight words I, am, a, the, see, and count to 5. Check out these cute lady bugs your cuties made while learning to count! "We can count the parts of the ladybug: 5 spots, 2 eyes, 6 legs."

Beginning of the Year Goals
Hi everyone, we have had an awesome start to the new school year. Thanks for your help getting the school year started. A few reminders, please have your child at school by 7:55 every day in order for us to get to breakfast on time. Also, in prek students do not need to wear belts to school. This can sometimes create a problem in the restroom.
For the next two weeks, we will be focusing on school procedures and behavior. Our language goals are to ask and answer questions with support, to recognize gender, and to understand common oral classroom directions(go potty, wash your hands, line up,etc). Our math goals are recognizing numbers 1-5 as well as vocabulary: same/different, big/little. Our literature goals are students recognizing their names, the difference between letters and numbers, and sight words "I" and "am". Students will also be starting their "specials" in the next few weeks. This includes the sensory room, P.E., library, music, and speech.
Thanks again for your help. It's going to be a great year!

Welcome to Prek!
Dear Parents,
I am so excited to have your little ones in my class this year. This will be my second year at the Regional School in prek. I have a Bachelor's degree in Collaborative Teaching and am currently pursuing my Master's in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Alabama.
In our classroom, we use Auditory-Verbal Therapy in an aural/oral setting. Your students will be meeting language goals while fulfilling MCPSS' Preschool Course of Study. The class is extremely hands on and interactive. Children will partake in center activities, small groups, music and movement, art, and more. Please send your child to school ready each day with their hearing aids/cochlear processors and/or glasses on before they enter the building. This ensures that they get the best education possible.
I believe in a very open line between parents and teacher. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have throughout the year. I will be sending daily behavior reports as well as bi weekly goal sheets home in your child's folder. Please check this folder everyday as it is the best way to stay updated with your child's progress.I will also keep the blog updated with goal sheets and events as the year progresses.
Thank you for allowing me to work with your child. I can't wait to get started.
